I was wandering around all the Charity shops in Nuneaton last week with my brother. We were actualy looking for a wooden box for him to store his loose change, of all things (it`s a long story...). Anyhoo, we were unsuccessful in our search. On the way back to the car, however, we dropped into a place called "Distant Echoes", which sold well. old stuff...

As we were browsing, the proprietess came over for a chat, and mentioned that this was the last day of opening, as she was moving the business over to her website, the shop was taking up too much of her time, the overheads were crippling etc. Our kid found just the box he`d been looking for, and just as we turned to leave, I spied a plastic tub containing what looked suspiciously like my favourite plastic pal... The box was marked £20 for the lot...






Snapped her bl**dy hand off!

The bearskin chinstrap is broken, and the SLR is, well stuffed, but the bayonet and scabbard, and the frog are ok. The figure is in quite good nick too, apart from the hands - no bald patches, and no splits in the arms and legs.



One spur is broken, as is the sword. Belt buckle is missing, and the helmet plume has snapped off, but still none too shabby!



No fading and a good colour match, all buttons present and correct, and the badge is still on the fur hat.

The holster still has the pip!



The rubber has perished in one spot on the leggings only, the rest is all still good, thought eh zip has come loose.

Finaly - anyone recognise this? Some sort of elasticated tabard...



All in all, I`m well chuffed. This sort of lucky find always seems to happen to other people.
